The Abenaki people have survived over 500 years of occupation.
We have survived diseases to which we had no resistance.
We survived war, slavery, the Jesuits and racism.
We will certainly survive any words said against our People.
Our ancestors made us strong.
Influences from the technological world, which has no part of the natural world, have contributed to illness in some of our People. Words which would never be said face to face, are too easily typed out on a keyboard whenever dark moods strike. There is a loss of self control, self respect, and respect for others.
Those who are weak and suffering from a loss of their inherent spirituality, are preyed upon by others suffering from their own sicknesses and are used in selfish ways. Illnesses are shared and fed. Hatred of self is presented as hatred of others. How can one love themselves, when they so hate and insult their brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles and cousins?
We can only pity one who cannot see the truth of their own core spirit, yet professes to know truth in others.

ReplyDeleteYour posts are good and true. It is sad that people do not understand that what they put on the wheel will come back to them. It might take a while, but sooner or later, Creator takes care of all things. I am surprised that Salmon who has visited many different tribal and Band groups, has not learned this fundamental truth.

Douglas Lloyd Buchholz traveled all the way from Washington State seeking an "Indian card" from the Abenaki Missiquoi Tribe in Swanton, Vt. He got a card, then it was revoked due to his lack of genealogy and his self admitted "judicial history". Since then, he has had a personal vendetta against the Abenaki.
ReplyDeleteHe has been certified by the Social Security Administration as mentally ill. So severely mentally ill that he is unable to work. Thus his perceptions, opinions, perverse judgements and theories are suspect and lack credibility. He is not a good historian of fact and lacks clarity in his thoughts and writings. His mind is confused, listening to many voices and impulsively following which one is the loudest.
Being free from the responsibilities of a job, a family, a home or any committed relationships, has given him unlimited time to gather information and to infiltrate the Abenaki community. He built "friendships" based on lies and used people to fulfill his fantasy of destroying the Abenaki community. His ego may allow him to think that what he is doing gives him power and control, but he will accomplish nothing except to destroy himself.
